Your Bonsai Can Spend the Summer Outside
Although tropical and semi tropical plants are kept indoors in colder climates since they won’t survive the frost, there is no reason to keep them inside in the summer, too. True, we’ve had great success growing a huge variety of tropical plants inside, indoors just isn’t where they’re naturally supposed to grow. Every one of them will love to spend the summer outside. Your indoor bonsai are no exception. But you do need to pay some attention to a few details.
Tropical bonsai like the summer weather but be sure to take your time moving them outside. Rapid and major changes will stress your plants unnecessarily, but you can control that by making the changes gradual. On the first day that you’re moving your tree outside, just leave it out for an hour or so in a sheltered spot and then bring it back inside. Each day add a little more time until your bonsai tree is acclimated properly to the differences. By making the change gradually, you’ll avoid shocking your tree and increase the chances that it’s summer outside with make a wonderful contribution to it’s health and appearance.
