Lady with Fan Tapestry

December 11th, 2008

Gustav Klimt (July 14, 1862 – February 6, 1918) was born in Austria, near Vienna. As an artist, he was a member of the Vienna Art Nouveau or Secession movement. Although much of the subjects and symbolism used in his works were once considered controversial, he is widely regarded today as one of his country’s most significant artists. Klimt’s Lady with Fan was painted near the end of his life (1917 – 1918). An informal portrait of an anonymous lady, she holds a fan while her dressing gown slips from one shoulder. The background is a true example of Art Nouveau style with its flowing curves and organic, floral motifs. The weavers of the Lady with Fan Tapestry have lovingly reproduced this masterwork in all its bold and glorious color. Read the rest of this entry »

I Love this Sterling Silver Horse Charm!

November 10th, 2008

This should really be plural, because I found about six affordable sterling silver horse charms I want on this site! I’ve been collecting horse related jewelry since childhood, but I’ve never seen pieces that were quite this unique. And no wonder, since they were all made by an artist. That’s what I love by art; you get to see things through the eyes of whoever made it, and in this case, I’d say the artist really captured the beauty and grace and even humor of the horse. You Can’t Beat this Metal Shed

September 18th, 2008

When I was looking for a storage shed I was told by more than a few people that I didn’t want a metal shed.  The reason they stated had to do with the dings and scratches that traditionally that a metal shed attracts.  However, I did a little research and found out that the metal sheds of today are not the same as the metal sheds of yesterday and bought a 6′ x 4′ great metal shedthat I have been very happy with called the Riverton.

I found that not all metal sheds are alike.  There are still some weak walled ones out in the market and you will need to look and make sure you are looking at the metal sheds that have reinforced grooved walls that are 20% thicker as these are dent resistant.  I purchased a small model because that’s all the room I had and I could get a foundation that was as easy and quick to put together as the shed was.  This is a great little shed and it works for me and my family.

Brita Water Filters Improve Taste and Quality With the FR-200

September 18th, 2008

When deciding on whether or not to purchase a water filter, compare the pros and cons of using one to not using one. There are many different ways to purify the water in your home or office as well as .different styles and brands, such as Pur, GE and Brita water filters.

Purifying the water you drink is important, not only to the taste and quality, but to your health. When drinking water that’s not purified you do not know how well the water was cleaned before it made it to your faucet. There are numerous models that work in your kitchen and are specially designed to fit in with your decor, such as the Brita fr-200 which comes in both white and chrome.

Water purifying companies vary by city. Some cities are known for too much chlorine in their water which makes it taste awful. There has also been evidence of trace medicines being found in water. This could potentially be unhealthy to you and your family. To ensure safe, clean, and delicious water make sure it’s purified.

Everyone loves the All Star Shower Curtain

September 6th, 2008

While shopping around for bathroom accessories, keep in mind that if you want something that will last for quite a long time, you’ll need to make sure that the manufacturer is one that takes pride in the quality of its products. Unfortunately we have seen too many times where quality is sacrificed in the interests of producing cheap accessories and in the long run it’s the consumer that suffers. While researching different manufacturers, a name that kept popping up as being one of quality was Blonder Home Accents. Their bath accessories have both the sturdiness and quality that you have long depended on. Take for example their All Star Shower Curtain. One look at the detail and you’ll agree that there’s something unique about this product. Read the rest of this entry »
