Is Satellite Internet an Affordable Option?
October 3rd, 2011Satellite internet works through satellites and is available to virtually everyone, all over the country. This has long been a great choice for those who live in rural areas and want access to a high speed connection, as its speeds can rival that of DSL or cable. However, the big issue with it has been the price. Now the prices have come down and it is becoming much more affordable than ever. In fact, in many markets its price is comparable to DSL or cable. Just remember that the monthly rate isn’t the only thing you’ll have to keep in mind.
When you sign up for satellite, you’ll have to have a satellite installed by one of the ISP service providers. This initial cost is something to consider because if you’re not planning to live in your area for more than a few more years, it may not end up being worth the cost. On the other hand, potential buyers of your home would likely appreciate that you’ve installed satellite. You’ll also want to think about the likelihood of having DSL or cable become available for you in the future. You don’t want to invest hundreds of dollars in a satellite system and then find out months later that DSL is now available.
